WS Journal 13 “Circulation” — Creating Small Karamushi Ornaments
[A time to give form while touching the life of plants, and letting one’s thoughts wander to the nature and world that nurture them]
Ramie (Karamushi) sprouts from the earth, drinks deeply of the summer rains, and reaches toward the heavens.
Its fibers possess a beautiful luster that draws you in, and to touch them is to feel a unique smoothness combined with a crisp, rustling tension.
It feels as if a gentle breeze is passing through, keeping everything in motion.
Every year at the end of December, I hold a workshop to create decorations that highlight the texture of this ramie.
This year, I have designed them in a smaller size.
Touching the ramie.
Touching life.
Letting life circulate.
May the coming year bring another beautiful cycle of connections.
